ESTATE & TRUST TAX PREPARATION – $950+
If you find yourself in the role of trustee or executor during a stressful event like the passing of a loved one, you will be looking for a professional who can walk you through the process. In addition to a great attorney, you will be looking for tax preparer to help with the returns required for income tax purposes and used to record a decedent’s estate or living trust after their death.
An estate typically earns income from investments prior to their transfer to the beneficiaries. Income earned prior to death would be reported on the decedent’s final individual tax return, but anything earned after would be included on their estate return until transfer. Any income earned after the transfer to the beneficiary would be taxed on the beneficiary’s individual income tax return.
In most cases, a trust return can be either simple or complex. Trust are set up for specific purposes by an attorney (ie. Revocable, Irrevocable, Charitable, Special-Needs, Asset Protection, etc.) and income earned from the trust is distributed (or not) to the beneficiaries each year based on the type of trust.
It can be challenging to know exactly how to handle each of these returns and we are happy to help you through the tax process and give you the peace of mind you need while handling the affairs of the estate or trust.
