EVERYTHING YOU (N)EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT ME!

My family has owned a CPA firm for as long as I can remember.  While in high school, I had the opportunity to help my father with his tax practice during busy seasons and loved learning about taxation.  I enjoyed my exposure to my family’s business, so it made sense to pursue an accounting degree in college.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) and a Masters of Science in Accounting (MSA) from Stonehill College.  I am a Certified Public Accountant who is licensed in Massachusetts and am an active member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA).  While I am licensed in Massachusetts, I am able to do tax preparation for clients in all states given the mobility of my license.

I began my professional career as an auditor for a Big 4 Accounting firm specializing in external audits for large scale multi-million dollar clients.  Then, I joined a regional accounting firm in their tax department and assisted in the preparation of Federal and State tax returns for individuals, corporate, partnerships and trusts.  Both firms were a pleasure to work for at that stage in my career, but in the end, a traditional firm was not for me.  I continued to feel the pull between the clients that were just assigned to my schedule and the clients that I was personally building through my own consulting practice on the side.  I wanted more flexibility to work directly with my clients and build client relationships with people that I liked to work with, not had to work with.  It made sense for me to transition from just seasonal work to full-time consulting with my family’s practice to achieve this.

After spending over two decades as part of my family’s practice, I can still say that I love what I do!  I have such a passion and enthusiasm for taxation that it creates and fosters long-term relationships with my clients.  I’m focused on going above and beyond to ensure that I do not just prepare the returns for you, but educate you to make informed decisions as it relates to your personal situation going forward.

PERSONAL LIFE

In 2011, my husband received a great job offer with a radio station in Connecticut.  Knowing that he could not pass up the offer, we decided to make the move from Massachusetts to Connecticut so that he could further his career.  Now in Connecticut, I continue to work for Gormican PC during the busy season and hold a finance director position for an amazing company that is headquartered in the Hartford area.  I opened our Connecticut office in 2020 and just moved into a beautiful new space above the local cupcake/candy/ice cream store!  Due to the fact that I now operate out of two states, I will be making monthly trips up to Massachusetts during tax season to continue to be available for clients in both states.  As always, if you would prefer to connect through video chat or phone calls that will work as well!

I love spending time with my husband, son, daughter and crazy cat who all still love me despite my lack of culinary skills.  Outside of work, you can usually find me volunteering, reading a romance or cozy murder mystery novel or going on an adventure with my family.  I also love taking pictures and scrapbooking the #littlethings in life.  I'm years behind (the middle of 2021 right now!) on that project but such is life!
