About Me

Trish - smaller version

Professional life:  My family has owned a consulting practice, Gormican, P.C., for as long as I can remember.  In high school, I had the opportunity to help my father out with his accounting and tax practice during busy seasons and loved being part of it.  I enjoyed my exposure to my family’s business, so it made sense to pursue accounting in college.  I spent my collegiate school years interning at various companies to determine what would be the best fit after completing my schooling.

I began my professional career as an auditor at Deloitte & Touche (Big 4 Accounting firm) specializing in external audits of mutual funds, retail, women’s science, biotech and benefit plans.  After that, I joined Walter & Shuffain (Regional Accounting firm) as a tax accountant and assisted in the preparation of state and federal tax returns for individuals, corporate, partnerships and trusts.  Both firms were a pleasure to work for at that stage in my career, but in the end, a traditional CPA firm was not for me.  I wanted to work directly with the clients and build up a client base that was made up of people that I liked to work with, not had to work with.  I essentially wanted to do the same style work my father had done with his clients for years!

Despite working along side my father, I’m not your parent’s accountant. In college, I started slowly building up my client base on the side and now nearly two decades later, I can still say that I love what I do!  I have such a passion and enthusiasm for this that it helps create and foster long-term relationships with my clients.  I’m focused on going above and beyond to ensure that I do not just prepare the work for you, but to educate you to make informed decisions as it relates to each personal situation going forward.  I feel like this approach works best for me and nearly every client has come from a referral from a current client.  That says a lot to me about the value that I bring!

Education & Certifications:  I hold a Masters of Science in Accounting (MSA) and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) from Stonehill College. I am a Certified Public Accountant who is licensed in Massachusetts and am an active member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Personal life:  I love spending time with my daughter, son, husband and our crazy cat, who all still love me despite my lack of culinary and housekeeping skills!  I enjoy traveling the world, skiing through the long New England winters and volunteering with my local Women’s Club.  In addition, I like to take millions of pictures of our everyday life so that I can make scrapbooks at some point to remember all of the #littlethings in life.  I’m years behind on this project, but such is life 🙂
